Ebony Bones – Carnival of Sounds!

Effusive and vivacious are the two words that jump to mind when thinking of Ebony Bones and their female lead who takes her name sake from the bands. Having picked up ‘Best New Comer’ at the EU festival awards it seems safe to say this carnival of sound and color will be notching up some more appearances come the capricious UK summer. Bestival is a sure thing, what with the band being signed to Sunday Best and all.
The bands riveting mix of punk, rock and music that basically inspires you want to gleefully bounce around, grinning like a nutter – occasional filthy reverberating bass, homage to 90’s dance, well timed vocals and chorus – it’s just mint really. Their shows and costumes are laced with this energy too, ‘‘sometimes the best way to get a message across is through comedy and color,’’ says Miss. Ebony Bones.
Their track ‘In G.O.D We Trust’ embodies this flamboyance and fantasy, in much the same way Tesco hammering a live chicken to Fearnley-Whittingstall’s front door would convey their sense of corporate governance. It’s powerful music, what can I say?
Another track from their album, ‘We Know All About You’ is loosely based on the police state inspired paranoia and distrust of Orwell’s 1984, this balance between the predominantly upbeat nature of their music and the honesty of emotion found in the lyrics create a stark but fascinating cup of tea. Find out of it’s your here.

And now playing the Camden Roundhouse on – April 10th! Whoop whoop.
