FisherKing – A musical love-child

FisherKing

FisherKing are a four-pieice from Sydney, Oz that have been catching the eyes and ears of critics and music fans alike. Their music is a blend between cruisy coastal folk and pop-laden indie rock. For lack of a better metaphor, one might say that it is the musical love- child of Ben Harper and Coldplay.

They first hit the scene in March this year when they released their debut, self-titled EP, produced by Genevieve Maynard (of Stella One Eleven and Blue Juice fame). Quickly unearthed and backed by national radio station Triple J, FisherKing have been labelled as one of the best new up and comers in blues and roots music.

FisherKing have been making a very tidy name for themselves in their homeland so keep an eye out for them in the near future as even bigger things are expected from these boys. FisherKing have recently begun work on their debut album which will hit the stores early next year, but be ready for the first single to be released in just a few short months.

Check them out here. Have a listen… here are two tracks from the boys down under. Who You Praying To and Smellin Roses

Here is what others have been saying…

‘Cruisy, but really confident stuff. Each of their songs paints a strong picture
of an act with loads of potential.’
Richard Kingsmill, Music Director, triple j

‘Gorgeous story telling lyrics & instrumentation’
Rosie Beaton, triple j

‘This is music that takes you on an emotional journey & then drops
you off in the sunshine’
Krissi Weiss, Rave Magazine
