Jake Morley – Jaw Dropping
The above track is my peronal favourite of all Jake Morley’s releases. This rare and exciting talent is a breath of fresh air for live music. I’ve not seen an artist silence a rowdy english pub like this young talent does in a very long time. And credit to him, what he does is nothing short of jaw dropping.
He taps and slaps his custom built guitar on his lap as if playing the guitar, piano and a drum all at the same time. Just as you think it doesn’t get much better, Jake launches into his lyrics, a sound suited so flawlessly with the tune he’d already surprised you with. Not to mention the barrage of loops and affects he throws in to back him up. All recorded on the spot might I add. As cheesy as it sounds, this man defines the term ‘One Man Band’.
Jake is tucked away at the minute throwing (probably a little more carefully than I’ve made that sound) together a debut album. Behind the mixing desk he’ll be with the legendary Phill Brown (Bob Marley/Led Zep/Faithless/Zero 7… to name a few). While this is brilliant news, it also means Jake is hidden in a dark corner somewhere scribbling away, writing what could be a very exciting release. So no gigs for a little while. I’m sure the new year will bring you the opportunity to catch this man in action, it’s something a little special to witness his talent in person. I’m excited to see what Jake can produce going forward into 2010.
I strongly urge you to have a listen to his music and indeed, when he does start gigging agian to get along and see him play. I’ve seen Jake play on many occassions and will be doing so alot more in the future. You’ll certainly not be dissapointed if you do manage to get down.
If you’d like to know more about Jake Morely, check out his myspace, or search him on youtube…there are plenty more video’s like the above to keep you interested. If all of that fails, drop past www.jakemorley.com.

Jake, that’s amazing mate. I’m never picking up a guitar again. As a friend commented, I’m humbled. Keep it up!
