One Scoop or two?

One Scoop or two?

I know we’ve dragged this out somewhat, we had a few things to iron out. But finally, they are gone. Yep, that’s right, the Mewbox Vanilla application is gearing up for it’s official launch on the 3rd of December 2009. While it’s all very exciting, we’ve got a lovely Metal Works Factory in Islington to drink at, some scoops of vanilla to share and a line-up of exciting, smashing music from Heads.Hearts, Freefall Collective, Rennie Pilgrem and a few carefully selected Dj’s… it’s not really just about that.

All of this, after all, is about a little application file we hope you’ll all grow to love. I thought in the lead up I’d give you a little info on the vanilla application. Not to much though. We know the details by now, it’s obviously version of Mewbox, with the usual specs, DRM-free mp3’s… around 4 million tracks from around 23000 labels. It’s driven by 7digital and it originally launched on the Archos 5 Internet Tablet. This version has a few edits.

We no longer have the use of the amazing screen provided to us by Archos, so we’ve made a few changes. Fewer than you’d expect. A lot of what we wanted to achieve originally was an immersive environment to experience your music in. We’ve kept that, our custom interface has stayed and what’s better,  it’s now scalable. It will stretch and adapt to your screen size so it always looks good on your android phone.

The icons along the base had to go somewhere, so we’ve introduced a tab, you simply pull them up and down as you need them. We had to do a little bit of a reshuffle on the Feature page, again, so that every ones screens worked in the right way. So, while images have been reshuffled, you still get the same features as the higher end application.

And with mobiles being connected to 3G networks, you can now browse the Mewbox library almost anywhere.

I guess, what I’m trying to say here, is that vanilla isn’t really that plain. We are even happy enough to say that the standard version of Mewbox is more of a chocolate flavour, with a flake.

Mewbox Vanilla will be available for download on the 3rd of December from www.mewbox.com.

How many scoops was it?
