The Constellations – ‘Setback’

This Atlanta based band called The Constellations are an eight piece made up from Elijah Jones (Vocals), Ryan Davis (Guitar/Keys),Wes Hoffman (Bass), Jason Nackers (Drums), Jamie Gordon (Keys), Trevor Birdsong (Guitar), Alaina Terry (bgv, percussion) and Shabnam Bashiri (bgv, percussion). They are currently touring North America, no plans have been laid for UK appearances but one of their tunes ‘Setback’ has been available to us as a teaser.

The track, which was produced with Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarles Barkley) stays true to the Beck era of psychedelic pop rock, particularly with the rap influenced lyric meter.  Currently on Virgin Records we can expect to see to see The Constellations make more of a noise over here, moving away from their native stardom, they are hailed as an ‘Atlanta Super Group’ back home. Legendary local indeed.

For the current tour, they will be in cahoots with RJD2, an interesting, if not odd coupling to my mind. I do hope it works. Further dates have been promised, US only, for the summer -  the band are asking for date suggestions on their Myspace if your are keen to get involved.
