Time for Communion

Communion On SundayOur friends at Communion have offered us a couple of tickets to give to our fans for their Christmas do. If you want to hear some good music and can make it up to Notting Hill Arts Club on the 6th, drop us your details and you might just get a free pass.

They’re putting on

The Agitator
Oddyssey
Treetop Flyers
Lucy Rose

all of whom are much loved, as well as DJ sets from Chess Club, Beans on Toast and more.

Whichever lucky soul lands the free tickets will also get a bundle of free stuff from Mumford & Sons, Alessi’s Ark and Treetop Flyers. That’s largely because Communion was founded by Ben Lovett from Mumford with a few accomplices. In their own words:

Communion was born in the summer of 2006 at Notting Hill Arts Club.

Founded by Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons), Kevin Jones (Cherbourg) and producer Ian Grimble, Communion grew into a community of musicians, industry and fans alike, and provided a platform for the newest bands on London’s circuit. The night has seen the likes of Noah and the Whale, Laura Marling, Mumford and Sons, JJ Pistolet and Peggy Sue grace the stage and has become closely associated with the nu-folk movement in the capital. As well as this, it helped spawn the careers of artists such as Esser, The Holloways and Example, in keeping with the eclectic ethos that Communion has come to stand for.

In 2009 after regular sell out nights, Communion was asked to be on the committee for the Camden Crawl and launched a sister night in Brighton, first at the Hanbury Ballrooms and then at Audio. There are now also club nights at the Library in Leeds, and plans to launch another night in 2010 at Mole’s in Bath.

Communion Records was founded in September of 2009 and aims to continue the club night’s all encompassing philosophy and championing of new talent.

The event we’ve got the tickets to is here:
