We Have Band | French Horn Rebellion

We Have Band

It was the first time I’d entered through the doors of ‘The Legion’ on Old St. I always thought it looked like a decent spot but wondered if it’s front was just that, a front. It wasn’t. Through the doors you’ll find a long, open, stylish space, perfect for a live gig. Especially the gig we were there to see.

Up first. French Horn Rebellion, they hadn’t been on my radar and to be honest, I don’t think they’ll stay on it. Brothers, David and Robert take funk then rock and mix it with a pinch of electronic. I’ve read things like ‘piece of pure summer bliss’ to describe the duo. I didn’t see it but then again it’s not really my thing. There was a moment when one of the lads mounted a speaker and busted out the French Horn to the crowd, it almost did it for me, but not quite.

The highlight was without a doubt We Have Band. There has been a lot of chat about these guys (and gal) so expectations were a little high. I’m happy to say the enthusiasm and intensity of their set, not to mention their raw talent didn’t disappoint. They managed to twist just the right amount of electronic into what felt more like a rock set to make it, well, exceptional. Pop / Electro / Rock at its best, and if that’s not your bag then I’d recommend getting along to a gig just to stare in amazement at the skill involved to produce the sound they do.

Or just get yourself a beer at The Legion, it’s a nice place.
