‘You’ve Got the Love’ – XX Remix

I for one, and on sales feel it safe to say I’m not alone, really dig Florence and the Machine. Our brief encounter at Camp Bestival was very pleasant, much like the festival as whole. Despite the Sunday tent flooding.

Though I do have to say, on the return whilst sitting in First Class on the Monday with the South West’s businessmen stinking like a tramp, horsefly absyss, leaking, much to their dismay, was just hilarious.

I find nothing more amusing than being looked down on holding no ambivalence whatsoever. Well, maybe depressed football fans too,� their pretty darn funny in their own right.

I must admit the recent cover of ‘You’ve Got the Love’ did not tickle my fancy. I was a tad disappointed, pity the powers that be are relying on a cover to bump up the yuletide sales and festival fees as a result.

However there is a lining to every cloud. Stephen Guy over at W.A.YF kicked of his December mix tape with the XX’s remix of the cover. It’s fantastic.

The harp / warbling bass-line combo is pretty sick, not to mention the lyric duet that is consistent through the track, occasionally flitting Florence’s lovely falsetto on occasions to great effect. The simple, garage like two step works rather nicely too.

Don’t trust my opinion – get yourself a copy.

   Where can we get this mix tape ? Anyone who starts a mix tape with that track deserves my attention!
   The xx album aint too shoody either…
